Hi,

I am flying into DC for the US Champs at 4pm on Thursday, November 1. Is there some kind soul out there who'd be willing to put me up at their place that night and then bring me along to the US Sprint Champs on Friday? I have housing and transport for the rest of the weekend after that. I would really appreciate the help. Thanks!
(Alternatively, if other people are in a similar situation, I'd totally be willing to share a hotel room that night.)

I'm sure someone in QOC will be happy to accomodate you that Thursday evening, some of them, in contrast to me, with actual guest beds and cars to get themselves and you out to the races on Friday (I'll no doubt be getting a lift with another of the meet crew). Still, lots of floor space in my apartment and it's only a few blocks from Metro if you don't get a better offer. Glad to hear you'll be coming to the event!

Boris, I have a bed available Thursday night, and can pick you up at the airport as well, if we are talking about National. Transport to the meet site on Friday may be on the early side, but I would also consider letting you having you drive my car down so that I can leave the rental van in the park overnight.

Boris! It's been a while. I am a grad student at UMD which is just outside of DC and you are welcome to stay at my place. I have class until 6pm on Thursdays, but there is a Metro stop by my house and I could pick you up from there. We do have a pull out couch, but my parents may also be driving down on Thurs. night so I am not sure of sleeping arrangements yet. Its not ideal, but if nothing works out then know that you are welcome to stay with me.

Boris, Where are you flying into. Depending on when and where I may be the one. I live 10 minutes from BWI (Baltimore Washing International) and have a comfy guest room.
What I am uncertain about at this time is my schedule. I may still have volleyball on Thursdays (season may be over by then but I am not sure). Games are at 5 or 6:00 pm. I will skip my indoor soccer that night. I will be going to the sprint Friday so can give you a ride also. Let me know what your plans are.

Boris is flying in Dulles. He is off at the WC right now and will come back to this when he returns.

Oh, I guess that must mean World Cup. The first time I read it I thought he was in the restroom. And wondering why you would know that.

Just what country do you live in, Mitch? Nobody on this side of the pond calls it a WC.

Well if Boris is at the WC then it's probably called a WC where he is, don't you think? So if he's off at the WC then that leaves things open to interpretation. And hey, I figured it out on the 2nd guess! I just thought the 1st one was funny enough to share.

And to answer your question, I'm sure you of all people has heard of the People's Republic of Ithaca. In case you haven't been through town recently, the local bumper stickers that used to say "Centrally Isolated" are now saying "10 square miles surrounded by reality". But as you probably recall, I live in Dryden. I only work in Ithaca. :-)

I'm also arriving at Dulles on Thursday afternoon, 5:45pm. Potentially looking for people to share transportation and lodging...
