Passed me after 1km and I was still with him at 2k. By 3k he had bridged the gap to the group ahead. Des probably had plenty in hand as his descent time was near enough the same as mine and I eased my pace for the grassy part onwards.
Bernard seems to always pace it perfectly.
I think Des had a good bit of room so took it a bit easy at the end, if I'd got close to him, it would be hard to imagine he didn't have another gear.
