Yeah, that ISL own goal was demoralizing, especially that close to the end of the game. The defender was in a tough spot given the trajectory of himself and the ball, and had the ball gone through, it would have been just an easy of a goal for the Hungarian.

Iceland sure could have used the win, though, against the seemingly "easy" team. Now the easy team is likely through, and Portugal and Austria are just one win away from getting the 2nd and 3rd spots.

An Iceland tie this week probably gets them the 3rd spot in the group, so until then, I'll be rooting for Germany, Turkey, Italy, and Belgium to minimize the points of other 3rd-placers.

I can see Iceland with another tie, it's hard to see them with a win.

For Iceland's sake, it's too bad Germany didn't score a second goal, as Northern Ireland has 3 points, +0, with 2 goals scored. If Iceland ties Austria, they need to score a goal to get clear of Northern Ireland, OR if they don't score a goal, they need to do so without a yellow card, because both teams have 4, but Iceland has a better UEFA coefficient (5th tiebreaker).

Ok, I can root for Sweden now, as Iceland is in with a tie, no matter what happens in Group E. Iceland can actually be runner-up with a tie, surprisingly.

At halftime, Iceland in a good position. Austria has had better chances (including a PK), but has missed them all.

Obviously, I want more Iceland goals, and they'll need to score more to win the group. (If POR-HUN stays tied, Hungary wins the group by tiebreak, and if POR wins without ISL scoring again, Portugal wins the group by tiebreak).

If ISL wins, they are likely 2nd in the group. If ISL tie, they are likely 3rd in the group and will advance.

The only BAD outcome is if Austria comes back and wins.

Oh gosh, this is gonna be a tense 45 minutes. Almost another own goal.

And there's one. Drat.

At this point, I would be surprised if Iceland doesn't allow another goal. AUT just keeps knocking and knocking and knocking.

And yet, they did not.
