Discussion: Start windows
in: Senior Team USA Trials (Jun 3–5, 2016 - Kent, CT, US)
Any chance of moving the long starts a bit later? (I assume the sprint window is harder to move earlier.)
Given the distance between the sprint venue and the long venue it might be nice to have a bit more time between them -- for the organizers even more than the runners, I'm sure! From finishing up at the sprint around 7pm + ~2 hours driving + dinner + shower + 9 hours sleep + breakfast + drive to long venue for possible 10am starts... not much room for error. It's absolutely doable as scheduled but if there's wiggle room it seems worth considering.
Remember it's going to get warm and humid. We picked 10 as a trade off between the two things, but we're working on starts this weekend - we could go later, but it will get hotter. What do people think?
Cristina has Texas, Arizona, and Djibouti experience. Give her a late start. :-)
I would personally prefer the earlier/cooler start window. I was not prepared for the sudden onset of summer today!
A few years in Norway has ruined me, I now wilt in the heat despite my previous experience with wretchedly hot places. :-)
That means that cooler temps seem valuable. I should be more adjusted to less sleep these days anyway!
And make her wear woolen socks.
Late to the game (need to update my training more I guess!) cooler starts please!! The heat at the track Saturday was a big shocker to the system!
