An organization called
City of Play has been managing this event called
City Spree, which is essentially a Score orienteering course. It is map based, participants find checkpoints, and it has a time limit.
Participants "prove" that they found the checkpoint by texting (using a SMS-capable mobile phone device) a code that is printed/displayed at the checkpoint. Based on the timestamp of receipt of the SMS (aka "text"), each participants is awarded a different point value.
The map is a plastic-laminated 8"x11" formatted printout ouf a Google street map.
In the past
years, the event attracted about 50-80 participants.
