Acampbell: hey so a lot of you said you run XC. So i was wondering what is everyones 5k times? i'm running my first race on thursday and want to have some idea of how long it should take me.

#  Posted 2007-09-19 07:18:24
emilyr: I believe I did it around 24:56 min last fall.

#  Posted 2007-09-19 11:57:26
biddy: my last one and only one i did was absoultly shit, i did 25 something basically because i had an asthma attack 100m before the finish. go me. my 3km is 13:49

#  Posted 2007-09-20 01:45:03
olympicdreamer: my fastest true 5km is 17:08....but that was 2 years ago and havent tried another one since. about a month ago i did 15:35 in a 4.8 km time trial....so roughly 16:20 for the full 5 km maybe?

#  Posted 2007-09-20 02:35:29
salmon: i do the same time trial as xcsnowskier..aand my time was 22:17 i believe?

#  Posted 2007-09-21 07:39:53
the kempster: the only timed 5km i've done was 2 years ago, and it was 19:37. would like to run it again now though to see how much i've improved!

#  Posted 2007-09-21 19:07:18
Acampbell: Well ran my first XC race yesterday! it was about 3.09 miles (they cut off a little bit because there is a huge hill in the middle.) and i ran it in 23:05! It felt great!

thanks guys for all your times as well. and if you haven't run it in a while try and go do it it was a great feeling crossing the line!

#  Posted 2007-09-23 03:37:02
Tom R: I cant remember exactly coz it was years ago bit somwhere in low 18 mins reckon faster now but never can get round to running one

#  Posted 2007-11-03 13:52:10
Scotty: Ran one the other night as a fartlek (1min hard, 2mins jog recovery) in 18.28. Would be good to run one as an actual race though

#  Posted 2007-11-04 05:49:17
kryso: scott u dont count cause ur just a gun!

#  Posted 2007-11-04 11:55:54
Scotty: haha whatever Krystal, i'm allowed a say in this

#  Posted 2007-11-04 12:16:47
kryso: haha i no i no it justs puts everyone else to shame :-( last time i ran 5k i got bored and i nearly vomitted...havent done one since...i might one day

#  Posted 2008-05-29 05:38:30
Fapos: my PR from last year was 21:36 i think. I have a race almost every tuesday. from memorial-labor day. that time was last year. It was a flat course for the most part. I did one 5/27/08 and i was somewhere between 22:00 and 22:45. Which pisses me off because all my friends do them faster. I definatley run faster through the woods.

#  Posted 2008-07-25 17:08:08
Kas: Last 5km run I did was 18:56 running them every wednesday and seeming to improve every time.

#  Posted 2008-07-29 08:09:39
cunderwood: last x-c season I ran a 16:58 5K but I havent raced one since then

#  Posted 2008-07-30 01:29:54
daedalus: 17:38 was my best but I used to be better at track

#  Posted 2008-11-11 06:52:55
Acampbell: OK guys lets hear an update. What are peoples PR's this year?

last years PR: 23:05
This years PR: 21:50 (same course)

#  Posted 2008-11-11 21:13:18
Tom R: 17.24 in rain and wind running on my own. Wanna go sub 17 early next year.

#  Posted 2008-11-11 21:32:05
R Anderson: this thread is depressing...
18:57

#  Posted 2008-11-11 22:13:01
Acampbell: Why is this thread depressing Robbie?

I'm quite happy with my time as my goal was to break 22:30 this year. I did that and made it to state.

#  Posted 2008-11-11 22:49:52
Koen: I think it's depressing because we all want to be the best :P
My best is 17:48, got the same goal as Tom planned for next year :)

#  Posted 2008-11-12 01:58:17
mood: I did 17,19 this spring, first time ever I run 5k in a race. The course was hilly (first 2,5k was only uphill) so I actually think that I can do something like 16,30 on a flatter course

#  Posted 2008-11-12 04:36:12
Anna: For me it's depressing because I didn't get a PR!

#  Posted 2008-11-12 04:58:15
Acampbell: Anna you have been out. Everyone will have great years next year. And that is another reason why i started this tread again to get us all thinking about goals for next year while it is fresh in our minds.

Goal for next year sub 21

#  Posted 2008-11-12 14:12:43
Tim F: I have done a 18min, but thats about my best

#  Posted 2008-11-13 08:11:15
Fapos: All you complaining about slow times when they're sub 18, please, stop talking, you make some of us just want to quit :P, My new PR is just under 19, I'd say 18:59, I could see the clock, it was one amazing finish sprint... :)

#  Posted 2008-12-05 04:55:24
cunderwood: This past season my best time was 16:43

#  Posted 2008-12-05 07:00:32
Jordan.Laughlin: I expect you to beat me in every sprint from now on.

#  Posted 2008-12-05 08:30:36
Fapos: But not me, although my best is (only) 18:55 as done yesterday. But that was just a training run, so we'll see! I've improved by close to 3 minutes (more than 2) just this summer. Think about 3 years from now! At the same rate i'd be running 12:00!!! WAHOO!!

#  Posted 2008-12-05 15:46:12
Jordan.Laughlin: There is this thing which is diminishing returns....

You better beat me as well.

#  Posted 2008-12-05 18:27:05
Fapos: Will do! Well, I can promise I'll try, but not making any guarentees about victory.

#  Posted 2008-12-06 09:31:06
cunderwood: hah 12:00 is quite a accomplishment. i just need to work on my navigating skills and i will be set for orienteering.

#  Posted 2008-12-06 10:41:43
Fapos: You sure will! Keep up the good work. The US ( north America minus Canadia) will now dominate the orienteering world!!! Ha ha ha! :P good work Carl!

#  Posted 2008-12-06 19:19:00
cunderwood: Haha thanks.
