If I'd just run a half-marathon in the time you did I'd be a bit loopy too if I tried to Orienteer the next day. My guess would be that you put all your mental effort into the half and had no concentration left for the Oing. You'd be surprised how much of a difference that can make!

Anyway, awesome race on Saturday so don't beat yourself up too bad about Sunday. I wish I'd've been able to make it to the Sprint Series finals but my bank account slapped that one down. It too bad because I know that this'll be an awesome event and I'm sorry I'm going to miss it. I'll be at the US Champs though.

Thanks for the encouragement! You're right about being too tired to O. I looked hard for something positive out of my O, but there wasn't any, thus my worries. Hopefully I'll get to go out on a map a couple of times this week to hone my skills a bit.

It's really too bad you can't make it to the Sprint Finals. I was looking forward to possibly team up with you in a non-champ eligible 0-pt team.

Yeah, Englewood is a weird map. The scale (1:12500) is all screwy, and the vegetation is just nasty in places.

Yeah, I'm still wondering how the mapper decide on 1:12500? Did he/she use a base map of 1:25000 with 20ft contours? As with the vegetation, I'm willing to accept that it's still summer, but overall it could probably still use some updating.

I always assumed the scale there was intended to fit the map on a page of 8.5 x 11 inch paper. For me the weirdest thing was the apparent work that went into the lake coastline and the contrast to some other parts of the map. The coastline makes you think the mappers did a really great job, and then you get let down in other places. I wonder if the coastline is easily visible on aerial photos? They should go get the new GIS contours and see if they can use them to improve the map. LIDAR data is supposed to be available now, but I haven't been looking for it. Plus, I wouldn't know what to do with it if I could find it.
