The nearest there is to a general store is the petrol station, which also has a post office and surprising amount of other random stuff. There's a sign outside that I remember something about little river holding the first race... but I can't remember what for, possibly a car/motorbike race.
...we've stopped there a few times on the way back from the you yangs and I'm the sort of person who likes to read about places/things.

Ha, I saw that when we went for a walk after dinner but it was getting dark so maybe B didn't notice it, and anyway, it wasn't as impressive as https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Unfinished_Spani... which I'm glad to say that I did get to see before it burnt down for the final time.
