I agree completely - unfortunately the IOF map commission has a fundamentalist attitude to maps and mapping that is about 20 years out of date. MOST areas can be mapped at 1:15,000 but SOME cannot and to state that these areas are not useable for orienteering is patently absurd.
You got the point! Not been able to use some awesome natural places because of the scale regulation is absurd. It is what makes orienteering so exciting: an incredible range of terrains.

There is a Brit and a Frenchman on the map commission, do they get outvoted or do they need to be convinced as a first step ?
I have never discussed about maps with our French member of MC, he is not recognize among the most famous/wellknown mappers in France. Don´t really know his opinion on those different topics.
