I hope you enjoyed the GNC, and hope to see you back next year despite the issue you had on the 9-10 leg.

I went out yesterday to investigate your assertion of an unmapped reentrant. I followed the straight line from 9 to 10, and picked off all the mapped features along the way, but did not see any unmapped reentrant as you describe.

The circle does cross the form line depicting part of the last small n/s spur that is crossed before reaching the control...perhaps this is where the confusion arose. I might have opened the circle up a bit more....but that would leave precious little circle remaining....and the contour line above the form line also shows the spur.

Take care.

Thank you Rick, for checking the situation, but I was not on a straight line, and I am pretty sure there is a missmapped reentrant there. I will get LIDAR data of the park and will post the contours in that area. I liked the courses a lot, blue had a little too many controls, it would benefit from one 2-2.5 km leg with decisive rout choices, other than that very interesting for ridge and valley terrain. Thank you again for all hard work!

If you post your route to routegadget, I can go check it. I am doing a local meet there in March, so if there is something amiss I'd like to find it.

Blue did have a lot of controls. It was a result of all the roads and trails. I was trying to avoid simple long trail runs. I will try harder to get the longer leg in there next time!

Long trail runs are fine as long as there more than one rout choice; it has been a misconception in US course setting for years. Orienteers are to chose longer winding flatter trails vs straighter hillier trails, etc.
I have my mapping process finished, the problem is that mapped reentrant on a map was shown way two short, missing in at least one contour line. (see attached image)

Unfortunately, I left my maps at Sergei's house, can not compare with the original.

Maps are up on RG!

@Z-man - in the end it was a combination of mapping and a parallel error when I was contouring the hill, and saw that reentrant's top, did not check compass for the direction of this "extra long" reentrant, that would save me from loosing 3 min or so.
@RickShane - I should do your base maps :), let Sam do the foot work, but not touch my contours :).

Could just be the difference between 5m and 3m contours. Your map appears to be six 3m contours, ours has three 5m contours. It's close....

those are 5 meters contours with all 2.5 meters form lines are present.
