That's exciting! What was auditioning like?
Fun, interesting, pretty much how I thought it would be from information they had sent. The online test is 50 questions; they have another 50-question test there, then you do a practice round with two others from the audition group learning how to use the buzzer and call out categories and when to buzz in. Then they do a short interview of each of us. The last two parts are taped so they can review auditioners later to help em choose. Only 400 contestants per taping season are invited to fly to CA (paying their own way, but as they pointed out third place gets $1000).
If I don't hear from them in the next 18 months, I'm free to take the test and try again. :-) One woman there was on her third audition attempt.
I did it just to see how I'd do and because it's something out of the ordinary. If I don't get a call I am unlikely to try again but I think I'd encourage anyone considering it to try.
Sounds like a fun experience. If they call you, I sure hope current champion Matt is gone!!
I'd have no chance from what I've seen. :-)
Last night his competition looked promising for a while, but then he got both daily doubles in the next round and that was that! I always feel so sorry for players who, when they've no doubt dreamt for years about getting a chance to compete, run into a Matt or an Arthur who annihilates them!
