I have an acquaintance who will be hiking the trail in a couple of weeks. Does anyone have a suggestion of how a good map of the trail might be acquired?

The best I could do was offer up this:
Map
and I'm not even 100% certain its the Laugaveguinn trail.

Info from Iceland website This says you can buy maps online from the ITA site but I couldn't see how. They do mention theyre available petrol stations (and other locations) in Iceland.

We visited the office of the Icelandic Touring Association in Reykjavik before our hike and left armed with all the info we needed.

They have lots of good maps. You can buy them in different places. Try to go to the Tourist Information center or a bookstore in Reykjavik. Alternatively you can ask any mountain guides company - also in Reykjavik. Good luck ! Iceland rocks.

The map isn't very detailed, but there is a good description and other information on the Marathon website.

Looking forward myself to spending another week Iceland on my way home in a couple of weeks.

Andrew Skurka's got a pleasant read:

From his Maps page for that adventure:

http://www.nordicstore.net/collections/maps/produc...
http://www.ferdakort.is/index.php?option=com_conte... (I would guess sections 1812, 1813, 1912, 1913, to be safe)

I'm incredibly jealous.
