Discussion: Robot-O?

Boston Dynamics, the Google-owned robotics company, has posted a video of their new robot Atlas walking in the woods:

There is a world champs for robot soccer/football.

A robot orienteering championship would be good publicity.

Until the robots started beating the people, which would probably be pretty soon if anybody put some real effort into development. Can anybody name a world chess champion after Kasparov? (Well, OK, on AP I imagine quite a few can, but see if your neighbor has a clue). Is it coincidence that Kasparov was the first champ to get waxed by a computer?

The trailing utility cable would be handy if he got lost - just turn around and follow the cable back to the start.

I wonder of the cable would act like a Kangaroo tail for stability when hopping over logs?

Kasparov was the last one to make news. Before Kasparov, there were probably a lot of people who couldn't name a champion since Bobby Fischer.
