I'm planning a goat event for our club in NE Ohio. Probably a choice of 5 and 8 km courses. However, if there is enough interest, I will create a 12 km course. This September 5th event will use a brand new map of the area used on day 2 of the 2004 NAOC. The Cuyahoga Valley NP is near both the Cleveland and Akron airports. I will watch the comments to decide if there is interest in the longer length. Check the AP event list for details and location.
i had great memories from 2004 ( my only NA title in M21 ). i suggest you plan for having a longer course.if you still plan a 5 and 8 k, whom ever think is too long have the option of shorter one...not far from SW Ontario
I can't confirm how many/any might join, but a long goat starts to sound like a good road trip for SE Michigan. You have me tempted.
I like the idea but cant come that weekend.
I'm another from Ontario who likes the idea. I wouldn't be able to come on Sept. 5th, but I could do so on Labor Day on Sept. 7th.
you can count on a carpool of folks from sister club
After looking at the map, I can easily produce a 12 km course, an 8 km course and a 5 km course.
New map is finished. Control locations approved by National Park. The Python Goat course will be a 10 km, 29 control pre-printed map. Also available will be 6 km and 4.5 km pigmy and baby goats.
Hot diggity! Hoping to be ready
Sept 5 weekend sounds do-able! Hoping to make it!
Anybody know where to meet? The NEOOC website shows a beautiful picture of a lake, but at least in my phone, it won't display any map, photo or directions.
Event page on AP says Kendall Lake.
Club page has this:

Got it. Thanks! Hoping the LD weekend traffic isn't too terrible in the morning. Looking forward to it!!!
Thanks JanetT - that linked directly to it. For some reason I couldn't get to that map before.
Of course the long goat was interesting! There were more hills, marshes, giant rootstocks, and more of a chance of a python sighting.
Results and some photos (see also the 'photos' discussion on AP for photos (en-route on course, as usual) from Sherpes
