GuyO:
I registered you (& me) for the Open Sprint on Sunday (spectators' opportunity to run JWOC Sprint courses). Did you not run it?

Looking forward to seeing your maps

We didn't know I was signed up for that or that you signed me up for that, sorry!

Great attitude to your first Norwegian training Thomas! Those woods are insanely difficult to both run and orienteer well in. This is a great experience and one that will be great for the future.

Your Mom knew (it was a separate payment -- and wire fee) -- but she isn't there either. Oh well...
You should try to get your (& my) maps, though.

What do you think about using Emit? I never have, and was not looking forward to it...

You get to keep your maps, don't have to turn them in. Sportsmanship is huge here.

But yeah, we'll try. So far, I'm a fan of Emit, it's a cool system with less hiccups then SI. The only problems I've had are that it's a little awkward to hold and even harder to punch when the big part of the box is facing toward you because you have to twist your arm uncomfortably. Electronically it's great.

It's that whole awkward-to-fit-in-the-box thing that puzzles me as to why any highly competitive orienteer would even tolerate such a system. How could it possibly be better than SI electronically, though? Not having to finish-punch? Or download? Not sure why you'd think it had fewer hiccups, though...

Of course, I say all this having never used Emit -- and obviously having a huge SI bias, from using it for 15 years... To me, Emit is the Betamax to SI's VHS (if you don't know what that means, ask your Dad... :-) )

We have a few Brits here going to O-Ringen who would love to explain the advantages of Emit. Btw we're working on getting your maps, but not there yet.

I thought the UK used SI... Besides, they can't even get that what-side-of-the-road-to-drive-on thing right...

;-D

Thanks for the maps effort!

UK has both - different clubs bought different tech.

They do use SI, but they're using Emit now and they like it.

Well, don't get any crazy ideas about bringing Emit across the pond... ;-)

BTW, are you going to post your routes on Movescount(sp?) ? (though I suggest doing the AP donation, so you can post here -- mostly because my phone does not display Movescount routes properly; ie, at all...)

Thompass:
Yes I will post the, to moves count when I get back to the USA, might take a month. Btw guy, can you read my text, I'd be extremely interested in sending a team to the World School Championship Orienteering in 2017, it is a fantastic learning experiences and they will be hooked to orienteering.
