The High Performance Program (HPP) supports Canadian athletes who wish to achieve excellence in international orienteering. Every year, the HPP holds a Silent Auction fundraiser to support athletes. This year, the Silent Auction is being held on Sunday, August 16th in conjunction with the Canadian Orienteering Championships Banquet. It is one of the biggest fundraisers for the HPP, and the money will go directly to support athletes, such as through training camps or coaching.

We are looking for donations from the general orienteering community (and their networks) in order to make this a success! We are very appreciative of all the generosity in the past years. If you’d like to donate something, but need ideas, here are some suggestions:

A donation by your club to an upcoming event or event series
A donation from a local business, such as a running/sport store
New orienteering or athletic clothes
Artwork, photographs, or crafts (this could be a good reason to look at Pinterest or Craftgawker!)
Delicious treats like cookies, jam, or granola
A cottage or cabin stay
Share your skills such as through a coaching session

If you know what you’re bringing, feel free to send Emily Ross an email (hppsilentauction@gmail.com), so we can start hyping up some of the big ticket items. If you aren’t able to attend the COCs, but would like to donate something, send something with your club mates. Thanks for all your consideration and support of the HPP program, and we look forward to seeing you in the Maritimes!

We are going to create a photo album on Facebook to show case some of the Silent Auction items. If you are donating anything (thank you!), please send a picture of it to hppsilentauction@gmail.com by Saturday, August 8th. We'll select some of the pictures to put in the photo album. Thanks!

What's the target amount Emily? Good luck!

Thanks Nevin. The past couple of years we have raised around $4,000 at the Silent Auction, so we'd like to reach at least around that. More is always welcome though!

A photo album of some of the upcoming items at the HPP Silent Auction is now posted!

Cash or cheque is preferred. If you can't attend, but see something you like, you can ask a friend from your club to bid up to a specified maximum. Thanks to all who have donated items. Even if you didn't get a chance to send in a picture, we'd still love more donations!

I'm also just finalizing the item drop-off process. You will most likely be able to drop them off at registration Friday or Saturday (this is preferable so we have time to make up item sheets), or Sunday. I'll confirm here once finalized.

It's confirmed that you can drop off items at the registration. It's preferable to do this on Friday or Saturday although Sunday is also possible. Please try to attach your name to the items you donate so we can acknowledge you on the bidding sheets! Thanks!
