What a wonderful pair of pictures!
(And Larry is 90? Looks like he's doing remarkably well!)
Yes, beautiful.
Why were they in Munich?
Why were they in Munich?
Haven't a clue. My assumption is that my grandmother was taking a summer trip to Europe with my mom (and maybe my step-grandfather but maybe not), just as part of a proper education for my mom. I'll see if Larry knows.
My grandmother was quite a woman, full of energy, independent. Heading off to Europe on her own would have been no big deal.
Maybe like Barb? :-)
Amazing picture - Jamie seems so natural/relaxed, happy and very beautiful - no previews and retakes in those days - real picture.
Is Jamie a nickname? It is not a <1920s name...
942nd most common name for girls in the USA in the 1910s. (Valerie was #502.)
She was given a different name at birth (I don't know what it was). Her father James was killed in action in France that October, and at some point thereafter she was renamed Jamie.
So changing names is something of a family tradition?
That photo at the train station is really a work of art!
