On IL side, just south of Old C of R bridge, I tried the levee for the first time. Good view and I'm glad I did it once, but due to loose rock I strongly prefer the paved roads following the lagoon.

Have you tried the trail North of Old C of R Bridge on IL side? It had been under construction for a long time.

No, haven't been north of CoR in awhile. I think it is open, but still has a stretch of unpaved trail. Have my fingers crossed.

Y'all need to get some CX tires and quit stressing over the pavement (or lack thereof).

I do have Gatorskins which protects my tires so I can ride on tight gravel and rail-to-trail type surfaces but these are still narrow tires -- CX would certainly be preferred on those surfaces.

and despite what racers think, wide tires roll as well as narrow (but smooth is faster than bumpy)
