Discussion: What types of publicity?

Are they localized (like local websites)? Or transferable methods?

Not that I do a great job of teaching newcomers when I do try...

Our new 'media' board member has been individually contacting local outdoor meet-up groups as well as some local exercise/outdoor advocate groups and asking them to announce events or have the group meet at one of our events. She thinks that what's more of a draw is that we are advertising 1/2-hour beginner instruction at some of the meets. In the first two cases, it has attracted 25-30 people of a range of ages.
