What has been the collective experience with how clubs have reimbursed professional mappers? Did you pay by the hour, or by the day? or as a flat rate contract for the project?
If you paid by time, how did you deal with inclement weather days (or part days)? Comments from professional mappers as well as clients would be useful, too.

I've seen it per hour or per sq km (adjusted for the difficulty of the mapping...detailed or blander, thick forest or good vis, good basemap or mediocre). Often lodging and sometimes food and transport, are provided by the club/asociation. I haven't seen any adjustment for bad weather (but some of the places really didn't have any...).

My mapping (and other Australian mappers that my state assoc has hired) has always been per hour, with separate rates for fieldwork and drawing. Accomodation, travel and other expenses covered if required. I'm a bit of a sook and don't like mapping in the rain, but certain other mappers that I won't tarr with the same brush are known to do 12 hours/day regardless of weather.
