Discussion: still frozen

Bummer about the running conditions today. I guess yesterday would have been worse? Maybe the snow less crunchy, but it was a dreary day. I turned the beds yesterday, which were mostly thawed under the tents, but it was still frozen to 8cm depth around the edges. I had to use the digging bar to break it up and then the shovel for chopping. Left the chunks overnight to melt, then turned in more compost today and planted. It was a muddy affair all around. Won't be as cold here this week as for you guys, but I'll probably cover Tues and Wed nights. The onions can handle the freeze, but I'm working on the assumption that I'll have fewer bolts if I keep them warmer. Also need to get the netting up to keep the cats out. It screams "giant unfrozen litter box" :)
