walmart or Target should have peel 'n stick temporary mirror that you
can cut and stick on any surface. Something like this maybe. Possibly in the crafts section. Or if you have a mirror for your bike you can put some double-stick foam tape on it or use rubber bands or duct tape to hold it on your wing. You could also check in the bike or automotive sections for small, round stick-on mirrors that might do the trick. You might find a small plastic looking-glass in the toys section.

Even a piece of broken glass would work in a pinch. Not as reflective as a mirror, but... I've seen some crappy laptop screens that make better mirrors than monitors.

Hmm...I find that drive scary enough as it is! I don't think I want to do it with anything other than fully functioning mirrors! I can get a zipcar if I can't figure it out!

Is it just the driver's side mirror? You should be ok without it if you're careful, right? Can you turn the center mirror to see the missing side well enough? Did you recover the glass from Trader Joes? If so, even if cracked you can duct tape it on temporarily. Cover ~1/4 of it on each side with the tape, wrapped all the way around the wing. Put a piece of cardboard or wad of folded paper behind it if you need to bring the front face flush with the frame for easier taping. If you didn't pick it up, swing back by there tomorrow - its probably still there.

When you're ready to replace the glass you can order it from one of the online parts places - I'd recommend rockauto.com. Or partsgeek. Put in your make, model and year, then look under "body, outside mirror glass". You might have to measure the dimensions of the glass. Should be instructions included with the glass. They run $10-20 plus about $7 shipping.

I've been meaning to replace mine which is cracked - I hit it with the point of an ice scraper several years ago. Lowes or Home Depot also have bare mirror glass. I hadn't thought about it before, but I might be able to cut my own. Not sure if the auto mirrors are special glass or not.

Looks like it probably is a special type of glass mirror, but in a pinch you can put anything there that will work. Some good info about replacing it yourself here. They also sell replacement mirrors and adhesives.

No wonder you feel bad if you ate dinner twice. Silly absent-minded scientists.

Just the driver's side mirror! I knew I'd been doing this American Driving thing badly! I need it for merging onto the multiple super busy roads I'm going to be merging onto this evening!
