Just talked to Lucy - their whole mountain is open and they expect 18-24" over the weekend with more next week. Great conditions.

Which mountain? We also have visitors who want to see snow (although we'll probably wait until after Christmas to worry about it).

Briefly talked to a woman at the gym who had just skied at Mt. Snow.

Vail - so maybe not too helpful. Getting dumped on out there.

I don't know if you're going for cross country or downhill, but southern VT got hammered a while back, and may still be quite ok. For XC, Prospect Mt, in Woodbury. For downhill, Mt. Snow, in Dover. I've never skied Mt Snow, so I have no idea if it's easy enough for beginners. There's also Bromley Mt., slightly further north, that is almost affordable (forget Stratton Mt; they have easier trails but you're paying western prices there). For xc, Prospect has some nice flat to rolling trails, as well as a couple screamers. I suppose I could go on, but that's probably the nearest.

Prospect is close to Bennington which would make for a nice overnight. Snow has lots of easier slopes and is good for a wide range of abilities.

These might be helpful. The first link also includes links to other northeast states.

XC definitely! Any accommodation recommendations? Air b&b is looking quite sparse.
