Discussion: Weights - why??

With the off-road element of your training, you really don't need to do any weights. From what I can remember you are quite a stocky build in the leg department anyway (not that I've been looking mate!!).
You would benefit more from doing intense sets of dynamic running drills that will specifically improve the elasticity and dynamics of your running stride.
If you still feel that you need strength work, then it should come from doing things like flat-out hill reps up Den Bank or even in terrain at somewhere like Haggside.
