Hey All,
I am looking into opportunities to use USOC training centers for training camps. The one in lake placid is in a great location but I was wondering if anyone could share if there are maps in close proximity to it? I know EMPO has some maps within 1-2 hours drive. If you know anything about the history of that area or know of some maps let me know thanks.

Erin, write to PhilHT at gmail dot com. He's not on AP but would have the information you want.

Adirondack O Club in the area recently folded; EMPO has copyright now on the maps there. Mt Van Hoevenberg is often used for ski-O.

USOTC at Lake Placid is awesome. That would be a fantastic area for a physical training camp. If this happens and you need ideas on hikes/swimming holes/running trails, let me know...

There are ski-O maps of Dewey Mountain in Saranac Lake and the VIC at Paul Smiths. David Hunter has been working on maps in the area, but I think primarily for ski-O.

If he's not on AP, he doesn't exist.

Many a great memory racing the Empire State Games ski-orienteering finals at Mt. VanH and Dewey mountain. On a related note I do not recommend the White Sled Motel.
