Well, there are a lot of twisty mt bike trails, some forest roads. It is a pleasant place for a walk, but perhaps a bit confusing. Some of the trails are blazed, but I don't know how to use the blazes to go anyplace specific. There are a lot of entrances, marked and unmarked. There are a number of websites that reference the trail network, but I haven't seen a real trail map on line. PG was able to use the garmin track I left on my log to go for a run, although as we know he is an advanced practitioner. There is also a lot more to the forest than just the section that Zack and I have been using. Zack and I park at the ball fields on Punch Brook Rd, and do most of our ride N of Punch Brook near the intersection with George Washington Tpke. Google maps doesn't even show that as part of the State Forest, although I think it is. There is a lot more of the forest south of there. Zack has explored it some, but doesn't like it as well for Mt biking. It might be fine for a hike. The DEEP site doesn't have a trail map, or even a boundary map.

There are some nice hikes there on the various Tunxis Trails. Check the Walk Book for maps. Also Bikerag had good maps. We've started from the ball fields like Charlie a few times. Also from Sessions going to NE from parking lot. Or start on the west side and go into the Mile of Ledges for a neat hike. Peter Grollmann had loops he did starting on the eastern side. Search my log for Nassahegan and you'll get several hits with FR tracks or discussion of the route. Nice area to run. Considered mapping part of it for a while.

Nice call on the walk book George, great maps in there! It looks like I could spend a long time in there - apart from the Mile of Ledges is there anything else that stands out?
