I noticed after almost a mile that it wasn't recording distance. So I stopped to fiddle with it for a minute or so, then carried on running. Just as a started running again, a guy about 150m ahead drove up onto the sidewalk and crashed into a wall after taking the corner too fast. Just about where I would have been had I not been obsessed with my Garmin data!

In retrospect that was scary.
